Community Schools

PS/MS 206 is one of 421 Community Schools across every district in the NYC Public School System. Through the NYC Community Schools Program our school has partnered with the Center for Educational Innovation (CEI) to develop interventions, programs, and initiatives that focus on attendance improvement and academic success. As a Community School, our school strives to support "the whole child, the child's family, and the child's learning both inside and outside of the classroom." In an effort to meet the needs of all our students and their families we have instituted the following programs at PS/MS 206:
- CEI After and Summer School Programs
- Attendance Incentive Programs
- Student Leadership and Social Change Projects
- Art Enrichment Program (Visual, Performing Art Programs)
- STEMS Programming (Robotics, Coding, Digital Animations, etc.)
- Sports Activities (E-Sports, Road Runners, Basketball, etc.)
- School-based Health Services (Medical, Vision, Dental, and Mental Health Counselors)
- Family Education
- Food Pantry Give Away
- Family Education Trips
Our School Community School Director, Lenore Estrada, and Community School Specialist Lishana Turner are school-based CBO staff who have collaborated with all members of the school community (staff, students, and parents) to develop the opportunities listed above.
