🌟 “I AM/YO SOY” STUDENT CELEBRATION
Students Only—This Is Not a Parent Event
Our students will participate in a special celebration of the people, places, cultures, and experiences that help shape their identities.
This activity is for students only during the school day. Families do not need to attend.
👕 IMPORTANT UNIFORM REMINDER
PS/MS 206 is a uniform school, and students are expected to wear the complete school uniform each day:
- Grades 3–5: Light or powder-blue polo shirt with navy blue bottoms
- Grades 6–8: Burgundy polo shirt with khaki bottoms
Uniforms do not need to be branded or display the school logo. Families may purchase the correct colors from Amazon, Walmart, Cookies, or another local retailer. Regular street clothes are not part of the school uniform.
For safety reasons, students must wear secure, closed-toe shoes.
🚫 NOT PERMITTED FOR ANY REASON
Crocs, slippers, sandals, flip-flops, and other open-toed shoes are not permitted.
Complete uniforms are also required for all school trips.
We understand that families may sometimes experience challenges. If your child needs assistance obtaining a uniform, please contact me privately so we can explore available support together.
⏰ ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY MATTER
Students must be in school and ready to learn by 8:00 a.m.
Students arriving at 8:01 a.m.or later are recorded as late.
Being on time is a valuable lifelong skill. It helps students begin their day calmly, follow the morning routine, and receive all their instruction.
Late arrivals can interrupt lessons that have already begun and affect the learning environment for classmates.
We appreciate your partnership in helping students arrive on time every day. If your family is experiencing a challenge affecting attendance or punctuality, please contact us so we can listen, offer support, and work toward a solution together.
🚌 SCHOOL-BUS TRANSPORTATION AND OPT
Families should review their child’s route, pickup time, drop-off time, and bus company information in their NYC Schools Account.
All transportation problems must be reported to the Office of Pupil Transportation.
Please contact OPT to report:
- A late or missing bus
- Ongoing pickup or drop-off delays
- An excessively long bus ride
- A student placed on the wrong bus
- A problem involving a driver, attendant, or bus company
- An unsafe condition or other bus-related concern
- A requested route change
Office of Pupil Transportation: (718) 392-8855
Hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Transportation website:schools.nyc.gov/transportation
For the current location of a late bus, families may also contact the assigned bus company directly. Bus-company information is available through the NYC Schools Account. schools.nyc.gov
When reporting a concern to OPT, please request and save the complaint, case, or reference number. After contacting OPT, please notify Ms. Airyn Perez and provide that number so the school can document the concern and assist with follow-up.
The school can support families and follow up, but it cannot directly change an OPT route, pickup time, or bus assignment.
🏫 MAIN OFFICE HOURS
The Main Office opens to families at 8:30 a.m.
For concerns before 8:30 a.m., please contact the appropriate staff member by telephone or email.
During arrival, our team’s first priority is safely welcoming students into the building and helping them begin their school day.
🎒 PLEASE LABEL YOUR CHILD’S BELONGINGS
Please label jackets, sweaters, lunchboxes, water bottles, backpacks, swimming supplies, and other personal belongings with your child’s full name and class.
Many items look alike. A clear label gives us the best opportunity to identify and return an item when it is found.
Please also remind your child to keep track of personal belongings throughout the school day.
🎨 AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Our after-school programs are underway, and some programs may still have seats available:
- DMF Youth
- Phil Ramone Orchestra
- Union Settlement: Grades 3–5
- New York Edge: Grades 6–8
Submitting an application does not guarantee a seat. Students may attend only after their family receives confirmation directly from the program.
Please make sure applications include a working telephone number and email address so the program can contact you regarding acceptance and next steps.
School-bus transportation is not provided after these programs.Families are responsible for arranging pickup at the program’s dismissal time.
Please stop by the Main Office after 8:30 a.m. or contact me if you need an application or assistance with registration.
📝 BLUE CARDS AND MEDIA CONSENT FORMS
If you have not returned your child’s blue emergency card or media consent form, please complete and return it as soon as possible.
Please make sure the blue card contains current:
- Telephone numbers
- Home address
- Email address
- Emergency contacts
- Authorized pickup information
Accurate information helps us reach you quickly when necessary.
💙 PTA DUES: HELP US DO MORE FOR OUR STUDENTS
Thank you to the families who have already submitted their PTA dues. The suggested contribution is $20 per family—not per student.
PTA dues help fund the extras that make school more engaging, welcoming, and memorable for our children. Depending on the needs and approved plans for the year, contributions may help support:
- School trips: Transportation, admission fees, and other trip-related expenses
- Student celebrations: Awards, recognition activities, end-of-year events, and special treats
- Holiday activities:Decorations, supplies, refreshments, and student-centered celebrations
- Family events: Coffee Connections, workshops, cultural programs, wellness activities, and family nights
- Classroom and school needs:Supplies, materials, and resources not fully covered by the school’s regular budget
- Student incentives:Attendance, academic achievement, positive behavior, and participation rewards
- PTA-sponsored programs:Enrichment activities, guest presenters, performances, and special experiences
- Community-building activities: Events that bring students, families, and staff together
When families contribute, the PTA has greater flexibility to support trips, plan activities, and create special experiences for students throughout the year.
How to Submit Your PTA Dues
Please return your contribution in the PTA envelope that was sent home. If you no longer have the original envelope, use any sealed envelope and clearly write:
- PTA Dues
- Your child’s full name
- Your child’s class
If you have more than one child at PS/MS 206, list each child’s full name and class on the same envelope so your family receives proper credit. Only one $20 contribution per familyis requested.

🌟 CELEBRACIÓN ESTUDIANTIL “I AM/YO SOY”
Sitio web:schools.nyc.gov/transportation
- DMF Youth
- Phil Ramone Orchestra
- Union Settlement: Grados 3–5
- New York Edge: Grados 6–8
